The boy in striped pyjama is a story of a young boy who is currently living in world war 2, in Germany. Being a son of an important German soldier, he is taught that the Jews are a negative influence and mustn't be near. During a promotion, the family is forced to move away from the bustling city to a isolated house, which is in fact beside a Jew concentration camp. It is one day the son, Bruno, decides to go beyond the walls of his house against his dad's strict rules, and discover the concentration camp himself. Arriving upon the concentration camp he discovers a boy similar to his age, names shmole, and with the start of this friendship each tell their ways of Life being two different people, a Jew and a German. Shmole is locked in a concentration camp while Bruno visits him from outside the perimeter bringing food and other forms for entertainment to shmole. It is until one day his mother realizes that living so close to a concentration camp and having her and her family to witness the killing of her former servant who was a Jew, she doesn't want Bruno's childhood to witness such actions. Her family deciding to move back to the city and away from the concentration camped made, and Bruno had one last farewell promise to complete with shmole, finding shmoles dad. Bruno digs under the electric fence and hurries along with a shmole to visit every differnt bunker until he finds his dad, but upon entering one bunker they discover themselves in a group of men being forced to enter a gas chamber. Having no way to escape and fearful of what was going on they are lead to the gas chamber in which poisonous gases are dropped killing everyone inside, including shmole and Bruno.
This movie was a great visual for seeing just how different the lives of a German and Jew really were during world war 2. How all Jews were forced into concentration camps that Germans showed as a great place to be. Having videos of how well concentration camps are but in reality being the complete opposite so the German would not oppose or natzi leadership. This movie brought out the true standards of living of both sides because being kids they did not know what it was like when Jews and Germans lived together and what really made them split up.
You can relate to this movie in many ways, this is a form of discrimation due to the type of religion and beliefs. Having no reason to put Jews in concentration camps, it is safe to say it was done due to ones opinion towards that particular religion. There have been many hollcausts due to the differences between two religions, such as in Africa they divide up the people by who believes in the power of democracy and who wants to overturn the government.
Good work Jagnoor, lots of detail!
